TOGETHER WE WILL TAKE BACK AMERICA

WHO AM I?

I am Dayton H. Herron but all my friends (and I suppose some of my enemies if I have any) call me Hoby. I was born in the small, coal-mining town of Brownsville, PA on August 15, 1925. My Dad was a car inspector on the Railroad and my mother was just that, as most women were, before families needed or wanted two incomes. I served in WW-II as a rifleman in the 34th Infantry Division in Italy. After being wounded near Leghorn Italy and recovering. The Army decided to train me (and keep in mind that I was drafted before I entered my last year of High School) as a medical lab technician. When the war ended in Europe I was transferred to a Hospital Unit in Naples, that was supposedly packed up to return to the states. However, the man in charge felt that we should not go home, until the war was over everywhere, so he volunteered us to go to the Pacific Theater. So right through the Panama Canal we went. I was in one of the last bombing raids after the war was over, off the coast of Okinawa. We then moved over into Japan, and from there I was sent home for discharge. At the end of my junior year, and knowing that I was not going to be exempt, from the draft, to finish High School, I spent the summer in Rochester, NY. Now that I was discharged, General Motors sent me a notice that they would hire me back as soon as the strike was over. I married my high school sweetheart and waited, for I knew if I took a job in Brownsville I would most likely stay there. Once settled in the Rochester area, I wanted to take some advantage of the GI bill, so I attended Rochester Institute of Technology at night, to learn architectural drafting, while working the third shift in the plant. After 31 years 3 months and 21 days I decided to take a voluntary reduced retirement at the age of 49. My reason for this decision was many and varied. In a nutshell it was because GM's management philosophy towards its employees had changed. I was no longer happy working for them. While they would not admit it; their attitude said that no individual is important to GM. Please don't miss understand me. I do not hate nor do I have any ill feelings towards GM. They treated a young 17-year-old, with little schooling, very well and allowed him to progress from a stock chaser to a design engineer. At first I thought I would continue my carrier only at a different location. However my wife and I had always planned to see the USA and with her encouragement we purchased a 5th wheel trailer and toured the USA for 2 years. Settling in, Payson, AZ. I have always felt that each individual should put something of themselves, back into their community. After settling in Payson, I served with the Gila County Sheriff's Posse for many years. Learning has always been enjoyable for me, so I tried my hand at several different things I had never experienced before. Such as outdoor reporting for the local paper, TV talk show host, square and round dance teaching and calling, embalming and funeral services etc. Most of these paid very little and all were part time so I felt they were hobbies which paid for themselves. In other words I learned without any out of pocket expense. Now from that, one might assume that I was cheap. I felt it was being thrifty as I lost 53% of my retirement when retiring voluntarily. As my boss said, "Hoby go out there and sit around doing nothing and wait for an offer from us to retire, then you will get all of it. But I could not do that and be happy with me. I can not recall exactly when, as it was a very long time ago; the thought hit me. I can get away from everyone else in the world but me; so I must live my life, so that I am pleased with myself. I have lived with that philosophy ever since. I had always had an interest in politics, and the eerie feeling that those in office; were taking away my freedoms and giving away Americas profits; which is exactly what I, and many others had fought WW-II, to avoid. So when I heard about a program called Project Centrl (that is the correct spelling) Rural Leadership Training; I immediately applied. This also went along with my continued learning program, with little out of pocket expense, as it was a scholarship program. On my third try in 1994 I was accepted and attended for 2 years. This is an excellent program for those who want to learn how our government works and how to approach it, and to speak in front of people. You not only learn a lot, but meet many new people, which by itself, expands your horizons. At some point before this time I had begun to look into and study about the Founding of this great country. It really opened my eyes and encouraged me to try and define what went wrong. For several years I had a friend, Frank Silcock who guided me in my search and even calmly listened to my off the wall solutions. I miss him terribly for he was an excellent listener and a good advisor. But as happens too often, life stole him away when he died of cancer. One day a little frustrated with me he said; "Hoby it ain't-a-gonna happen. I said "what's that Frank". He said "What you are looking for is a simple man born in a log cabin to become the leader of our country. Politics today demands too much money". I corrected him and said; "No Frank what I am looking for is a man, who is willing to go back to living in a log cabin after he has been president". This is much longer than I had planned so I'll close with this comment. I have decided to do this as my effort to save freedom for all of mankind, for if freedom dies here; I fear, it will be gone for many centuries all over the earth. And I will continue to do it until either the movement or, I have died or I run out of cash. Please do not send any money to me. If you wish to help the cause, spend your money locally to spread the word.
