Honoring our Service Men and Women

While our parades, monuments and memorials are nice as an expression of our gratitude for those who served and especially for those who gave their all.  I am willing to bet  they would sleep much easier if we were to honor them by spending a little time protecting what they fought for; from the current style of politicians, who we now have ruining our country.

OK before you get on your high horse and  say that I am not patriotic; please consider where we are today, in relation to, where we were in 1776 or even 1970.   Again before you jump to any wrong conclusions; let me assure you, I do not feel those who have changed the country have done so; under some form of conspiracy.   No, they did what they thought was best for the country at that time.  However the build up of many minor mistakes has now become a catastrophe of gigantic proportions.

Spend some time discovering the differences between:

A politician and a Statesman.

A Republic and a democracy; especially the style they are building in America today.

Taxation as it was and as it is today.

Justice as it was and as it is today.

And especially study thoroughly, the Letters of Correspondence to understand how are Founding Fathers felt about the above subjects.  Then decide to ban together and change things at the polls and not on the battle field.

Bare with me as I draw a comparison between the life of a person in service on the war front and our lives as we should live them today.   Those at the front were and are in danger 24 hours a day; we have no life threatening instances in our lives.  While they are serving their country and us; we are living our normal life today.   They have left their families and the comfort of their homes; we have not.  Even if we spend 2 hours a week at studying and then revising our political system it would take 84 years to spend the number of hours they spent in one year  protecting this country.  And we are doing it under ideal conditions at home with family and friends.  Doing nothing as we are today, is a slap in the face of those who have given so much.

If memory serves me correct, America has not had a so called real (all out let's win) war since WW-II.  On top of that we have put our service people in dangerous situations all over the globe, with no intention of winning; only containing so called evil.  That has never nor will ever work for the betterment of mankind.   If the cause is not worth winning then let us not enter into it.

Not too long ago I was with a group who were discussing how we could stop wars.  I made the comment that every citizen should give up their lifestyle until the war was won.  I doubt if many would have agreed with the current Iraq war; if they had to give up all their frills until it was over.  Even if they still approve of the war, they would be pressing to end it rapidly rather than doing as we are now; dragging it out.  Since WW-II no American has had a change in his lifestyle due to the many conflicts we have had all around the world.  In fact, many have been better off materially and financially because of the them.  This is no way to discourage war.  At the least, taxation should be made to pay for the war, as that is where the profit is, not in the generations which follow.  I can not help but believe, it would be a very short war, if all Americans had to give up all of their income from all sources, over and above minimal living standards until the war was over.

My fellow citizens, could you not give 2 hours a week to your country.  Consider what your life might be like if we had not had a Revolution, a Civil War, had not fought WW-II etc.   The efforts of all those who have and are serving will be for naught if we allow the politicians to undo the intent of the Founding Fathers.   You will greatly honor all those who have and are serving by serving just a few hours a week at home.  Please give it some serious thought.

You can increase the effect of your 2 hours a week by joining with others in small groups so that everyone does not have to study every aspect.  Each could study some part and then share what they have learned with the group.  I am not sure how much time we have left before the politicians have us fully under control but time is of the essence so banding together will help a lot.  It will also make for a more friendly neighborhood as we will get to know each other better.

LET'S MAKE AMERICA BETTER
